Affinity Behavioral Care provides residential living for adults with a mental illness and substance use. The mission of Affinity Behavioral Care is to provide a safe, secure, welcoming and open environment that promotes a therapeutic atmosphere for adults to become productive participants in society, despite the challenges of mental illness and substance use.
Our role is to enhance a resident's quality of life by helping them to improve their independent living and coping skills to allow a resident the best chance at success within their community. The vision of Affinity Behavioral Care is to embark on a path with our residents and community to ensure compassion, acceptance, respect, empowerment, and sincerity with each step we take together, improving mental health needs for all.
Our attractive settings provide a structured milieu that nurtures personal growth with respect and dignity toward treatment goals individualized for each resident. This individualized program enhances quality of life in a less restrictive environment, while nurturing independence, dignity, and personal life choices and peace of mind for individuals and families. We aspire to achieve this through modeling, assisting, coaching, and supporting each in the clinical needs, social, financial, and interpersonal areas of their lives.
Our Core Values
We offer 1 to 1 Individual Counseling and Group Counseling for our residents. Our Senior Director of Clinical Services oversees these services in supporting our onsite behavioral health technicians.
independent living skills
We believe in helping our residents to develop skills to become more independent by mentoring, teaching, assisting and coaching each individual so that they can handle daily living skills on their own. For example, cooking, cleaning, laundry, bathing, budgeting etc…
We provide ongoing medication education to help residents understand their medication by learning the benefits and side effects. We educate, encourage, teach and administer resident medication. We document medication adherence.
We provide transportation to psychiatric, medical, and/or personal appointments as long as we are able to meet our companies staff to resident ratio guidelines. We provide transportation to outings in the community to help them socialize, to have meaningful experiences and feel comfortable being out in their community.
meaningful daily activities
We conduct at least 3 groups throughout the day, focusing on topics such as; communication skills, vocational exploration and skill development, relaxation skills including meditation, deep breathing skills, anger management and positive imagery among other therapeutic activities and outings.
We coordinate care with all applicable parties including, residents assigned clinical team, natural support system, judicial system, advocate/guardians, etc.
Adult Group Homes (18+)
We have 24/7 group home facilities that serve adults who have a serious mental illness, substance use issues and who also need personal care assistance. Our staff are either behavioral health technicians and/or they are certified personal caregivers depending on the needs of each individual home.
health & wellness
Our health and wellness program promotes a healthy lifestyle approach. It is critical that our residents receive services to help lower the risk of medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity within the serious mental illness community. We encourage a healthy diet by implementing meal planning and menus created by a registered dietician. In addition, our groups often include topics that cover sleep rest pattern, exercise, nutrition and medication education. We encourage walks, going to the gym, meditation, yoga and taking residents out on community activities.
